Worth playing SORR if you've already played streets of rage 4 a lot?
Hi guys. I haven't played SORR in a very very long time(not since around 2015 or so). However I've been playing streets of rage 4 quite a bit over the last couple months. I was wondering if it's worth playing SoRR if I've already been playing streets of rage 4? In your opinion which game is more enjoyable and offers more replay value?
The survival mode in streets of rage 4 has really kept me going and has offered a lot of enjoyment. I've already beaten the game several times. With all of that having done, do you think it's still worth playing SoRR? Does SoRR offer a unique experience to SoR4?
What are your thoughts in which game out of the two do you find yourself playing more?

It's a freeware game. There's no reason not to play it to see for yourself.
Furthermore SoR4's juggle system makes it fundamentally different from the previous games which SoRR is based on. SoR4 may be a licensed part of the franchise, but it's also quite different from previous ones as a result. There's no reason to pit SoRR vs SoR4 in a direct comparison. They're both good games that play very differently.

Completely unrelated comparison. It's like trying to say if Super Street Fighter II Turbo would be worth playing after playing SFV. Game mechanics and styles are different. SOR4 plays in a completely different manner from SORR, which is an improved gameplay loosely based on SOR3/BK3 with elements from SOR2/1 thrown together. SOR4 is based in a new style that benefits longer combos more than anything for a higher rank.

To be honest, I just started SoR4 one month ago and I play it almost every day. I tried to play a little to SORR two days ago, and... it's hard, graphically, because the difference is huge. SORR is not bad at all, but it is not easy to go back 20 years in the past about graphic possibilities.
But, SORR is SORR, so full of possibilities, I will return to it one day or another, that's sure.

I really prefer the approach of Remake. It's not flawless, and obviously in some ways looks dated compared to SoR4, but I think the overall stage design, branching paths, secrets, music, enemy variety and placement is more interesting than SOR4, especially the enemy placement and stage progression which seemed a bit boring in 4 until towards the end of the game. Though if you like the combo juggle system of 4, Remake will probably feel like something's amiss.
That said, now the DLC and patch has dropped, I find the weekly Survival mode particularly enjoyable. The DLC soundtrack is great, and the way the enemies are distributed reminds me more of the older games/Remake. There's an element of surprise and difficulty there, and unlocking the enemies for training mode is a very neat idea. I'd say the survival mode is the only thing SoR4 has over the Remake, even if some of the DLC characters and 4 player make it seem a bit chaotic and broken.

It is a bit hard playing SorR after Sor4, specially when you spent over 500 hours on it doing personal challenges and making run with your friends , like I did.
And why it is hard? Sor4 got a fluid gameplay, while SorR keep's Sor3 gameplay and of course, SorR's AI is tougher than Sor4 for obvious reasons.
I still play SorR because of all there's a lot of content that guys like Don Vecta, NattyCat, Serrr, Puzirkrov, Daniel and other people did, like custom characters and SOR Maker games, increasing SorR's life.
Like Don Vecta said above, it is a Completely unrelated comparison.
If you play Sor4 on Steam, look for 'SpideyKeiiti' on it, let's have some fun ^^

I prefer a remake. Perfect gameplay, music, settings, addons, etc make this game perfect for me. SOR 4 was boring for me. I did not enjoy the game and I will never consider SOR 4 as a continuation of the trilogy with Genesis aka Megadrive

Re: Worth playing SORR if you've already played streets of rage 4 a lot?
You guys rock! Awesome comments and very interesting opinions here. Thanks for your input. I'm just about done with SoR4, and will be focusing on SoRR moving forward.
I'm not too worried about the lack of combos and juggles in SoRR, since I grew up a beat'em up fan and played all the old school beat'em ups from back in the day like Final fight, Dungeons and Dragons, alien versus predator, etc. So I'm used to the old school feel.
Although I will say after playing SoR4 exclusively for so long, not having the ability to combo will feel a little weird at first. I wonder if the devs of SoRR would be willing to implement some sort of combo juggle system into the game at a later update? Is that a change that you would welcome?
Finally, do you guys foresee a day when the devs of SORR will update the graphics engine and give it a complete overhaul and fresh coat of paint, bringing it up to the modern graphical standards of SoR4? Yes I know it would be a daunting task, given the fact that they would have to pretty much redraw everything to make all the bitmaps and sprites higher res, but perhaps they can utilize some techniques and incorporate some of the assets from SOR 4 to accomplish this. What are your thoughts? Is this feasible in your opinion?

The words "bringing it up to" is a false assertion that SoR4 objectively looks better purely by virtue of being higher resolution, regardless of stylistic choices. Low resolution does not equate to "looks bad", regardless of whether or not you appreciate the sheer quality and detail that went into the pixel art for the games.
For reference I find SoR4 making most of the playable cast consist of chunky looking retro characters that clash with the existing art instead of upscaling them to fit with the rest of the art (like what SoRR did with all the SoR1 assets) deeply troubling. They didn't bother to redraw the classic characters to fit with the rest of the game, so any time you use them they look very obviously out of place, and it was very obviously a way to add a bunch of playables without having to pay for any additional art assets for them. I simply don't buy into the idea that SoR4 should be upheld as some kind of new gold standard for artwork for the series.
but perhaps they can utilize some techniques
Scaling up low resolution pixel artwork to look good at high resolutions requires redrawing it. If you're thinking you can upscale most of the art and just slap a blur filter on it, this is terrible idea and here's the thread for you to show why:
https://sorr.forumotion.net/t900-filter-or-shader-for-sorr-v5-2-in-widescreen-mode-yes-oh-my-god-yes-and-tha-s-de-way
It's also worth mentioning that the existence of SoR4 (and SoRR for that matter) hasn't stopped people from wanting to play the original SoR1/2/3. They're each their own game. There's no reason not to experience them and play whichever you can prefer

Yeah... the SOR3 Zan on SOR4 is stronger than SOR3 and SORR, I still suffer with this
About juggle System in SorR...
I think SorR have to stay as it is to keep its own identity and, I think it is pretty hard for the devs updating the game to look like SOR4... and there's numerous reasons for this
Anyway, I was playing a little bit and looks like SOR3 Galsia's sprite is buggy when being held by Floyd
