I was bored and went through some of the code tonight and grabbed the dates of the final build for each game.

SOR1 - May, 1991
SOR2 - October, 1992
SOR2 Beta - December, 1992 (???)
BKIII - January, 1994
SOR3 - April, 1994

That beta date kinda intrigues me, but I feel that it was just made up.

Yuzo was Axel? Very cool.

I guess by that we can say that Yuzo did Axel's voice all the way through 1/2/3 then since despite distortion in 1 and 3 it's clearly the same voice.

That's pretty cool that he did all of those voices. But yeah, about the punks I know for sure that he didn't do Jack, Big Ben, or the bikers voices. Jack's laugh is Yosamite Sam's laugh, the bikers are Kurtis Blow. Big Ben I'm not sure where that one originates from, but it's heard in Welcome to the Terrordome and some other rap songs.

WTF sega?! well to their credit, Double Dragon Neon played nothing close to the originals, I could see this being pretty cool regardless but I don't think they would've given the SoR title proper game play

Yep, not the least bit surprised by this news.

It's Sega's job to make sure Streets of Rage is dead. I really want to know why they hate those games so much, they really do have a vendetta against it and act like they are embarrassed by its existence for whatever fucking reason.

I remember the very first game of the original trilogy I ever played was SOR2, during my high school days; there was a games-room in the town which had several Sega games hooked up, and I remember the first time I saw SOR2, I took one look at Axel and thought "Holy crap, that's Cody!" (from Final Fight). And to see Axel - I'm sorry, "Cody" beat up Barbon was an awe-inspiring moment for my young mind back then. I never did play that game to completion on the console, though; I finished it and the other two games on emulators years later.

I sought out this movie out of sheer curiosity. The extremely over-the-top combat screams and corny dialogue were enough to kill my mood. They need to make a proper SoR movie, and I think I could make a half-decent one all on my own - considering this movie, that's saying something.
