Currently watching retsupurae (and experiencing for the first time) play through Sonic '06. I am (and so are they) genuinely surprised at how terrible the game really is (I thought maybe the internet was exaggerating a tad with its horribleness) and it's been a pretty funny series so far. But there is one thing I have noticed as they are playing through it that's actually awesome amid all of the shit. It's this song that plays during that snowboarding level. It's actually kinda fucking awesome to be honest.

This guy records Mega Drive/Genesis music on real Model 1 hardware. It was nice to sit back and listen to some of these songs the way they were meant to sound after all of these years. Under Logic is AWESOME on real hardware. Cool

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to this short film. Kickstarter funded (they got more than 600 000 USD out of the 200 000 needed), soon broadcasted for free on YouTube, this project is a work of love from a true fan of the 80's.

Cheesy and over-the-top on purpose, it has so many references from movies of back then. When you think almost everything was shot in front of a green screen in a little studio in Sweden, it's amazing what can be done by amateurs with post production special effects nowadays. The lighting is spot on, especially in the clip of the song, with the Countach (the pink light with white smoke).

About the song itself, I can't help but love it. Very catchy, it is representative of the sound of that era. It even sounds as if it was recorded in the 80's, with the sound distortion added at the beginning of the song. And props to Hasselhoff for his involvment into the project.

I read somewhere that the main guy is based on Ryu and Terry Bogard amongst others. That's a must-watch for me!

Yeah, Com Truise, Tesla Boy, The soundtrack to Hotline Miami and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. I have a pandora station dedicated to the genre and I found a lot of great artists and songs.
