I'm getting real close to being able to pull off a No Deaths run of Mania, SoR2 route. Current best is reaching Mr. X with about 1/4 health left (thanks Abadede/Z Kusano ). Shiva can be stunlocked instantly with no issues, and I have a gameplan for the elevator fight in Stage 7 that often gets me to the boss with the turkey, but Mr. X and his minions are a problem since they interrupt combos. If you catch Mr. X in an infinite and his helpers wander in you can end the fight since he can't resummon enemies in his stagger animation, but it's difficult to do...

After a lot of playing Mania, I realized I was getting good enough to the point where a no death run was actually realistically achievable... and after a half dozen attempts (and practice at the trouble spots such as stage 7 & 8 elevator fights), I got this:

- Roo's stunlock game is amazing thanks to an unblockable back attack. v5.2 game him back the hitbox in front of him when he back attacks that's authentic to BKIII/SoRIII, so he now has two stunlocks, a rapid front punch reset combo on anything that can't block or instantly escape (don't try it vs Barbon or R. Bear), and his long range tail whip for everything that can block.
Real close call midway through Stage 8 but I recovered and the rest of the fights went extremely well. The Galsias and Donovans cooperated with me really nicely during the Mr. X fight.
I've done all the Jet fights in the game without dying without having to resort to using Police Specials and gotten to Stage 8 in a run that died vs Mr. X, but my success rate for getting through the three major Jet fights of the game (on the boat, in the jungle, on the elevator) is really low. Roo's anti-air game quite frankly sucks compared to most because his specials deal negligible damage against aerial enemies, his jump attacks have hitboxes with short duration, and they are extremely hard to stunlock. Using Police Specials to clear the Jet fights makes a No Deaths run drastically more realistic for Roo. Maybe at some point I'll get a No Police Special, No Deaths Mania clear. It'd just depend on me getting through the Jet fights, honestly...
The other major challenges are the fights against multiple whip ladies. Specifically, the one outside the Alien/horror zone in the fairground, the ones in the jungle where all the bikers appear, and the ones in the final elevator fight along with Zamza. The whips hit hard, and they have invulnerability when standing up, with an instant counter jump kick.
Roo's back attack can't be blocked, making it a safe stunlock against almost all enemies in the game, including otherwise terrifying enemies like Shiva or Abadede. Abadede is tricky; he breaks out every 5-6 hits or so but you can catch him again immediately after his counter. The problem is Abadede can also run in with a running punch that does 70% health damage, and can do it instantly on standing up. In the final elevator fight, if you knock Abadede down, it's very risky to stun him again since he has some invulnerability on wakeup; if he's alone, jump kicks are often safer since you can't move up or down far enough to evade him. Rolling also might work.

I've since improved the SoR2 Route run and done it on Mania without dying and without using police specials for the Jet fights:
As it turned out, it's really the one in Stage 5 that was the biggest headache. The ones in Stage 6 and Stage 7 are quite manageable. The elevator fight in Stage 8 also went exceptionally well.
