Meeeh, looks corny as hell! XD
I guess the "based on true story" part came from the Chainsaw massacre thing, way original!

Dunno, maybe, but I think that is only a joke. I haven't watched it yet, I'm still downloading buying it
EDIT: As I thought, it was just a joke. It's a "bloody wtf movie", like all the other movies with Danny Trejo

Re: Films Thread
I just saw Machete Kills. It lived up to my expectations. Just over-the-top crazy and a lot of fun throughout. The first 30 minutes or so was somewhat slow and
- Spoiler:
- Charlie Sheen, while still funny (the scene where he wakes up in bed with five or more girls was hilarious) wasn't as crazy as I expected him to be in the movie
- Spoiler:
- I can't wait for Machete Kills Again...IN SPACE. I was not expecting Mel Gibson to be the mexican Darth Vader-like villain as shown in the beginning of the movie. Hope we get more Sheen as well

Jessie Eisenburg will play Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in the new Superman/Batman movie.
Amazing, never thought I would see the day where Alfred would be more badass than Batman is.
Jessie Eisenburg as Lex Luthor however...

The Expendables 3 gets an official PG-13 rating
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!
A franchise targeted for 80s/90s action fans in mind is now being marketed for the kiddies. I think I will be passing on this one.

After many years, the AVGN movie is finally drawing to a close and it has an official release date! It will be premiering in Hollywood on July 21st, 2014!
http://cinemassacre.com/2014/06/09/avgn-movie-the-big-update/
He's going to do premieres in some of the bigger areas of the United States, so he won't be going to places such as where I live. Bummer, but I understand.
I hope it will be successful enough to bring it to places like where I live and outside the US. Regardless, it will be released on DVD and Blu Ray at the end of the year, with a possible digital release coming first (also towards the end of the year).

Dumb & Dumber To trailer has been released:
Ehhh....mixed feelings.
Besides the last scene, the rest of the movie seems like it's just rehashing jokes from the first one. Really not sure what to make of it. I'll still see the film without a doubt, but I'm hoping they didn't show the meat of the film on this trailer and that there are much funnier jokes in the film; that they're holding back.

Re: Films Thread
Stumbled upon this awesome little series, made by Aussies:
Here's the synopsis:
Here's the synopsis:
Set in a bizarre, 1960’s inspired version of World War II, action comedy series DANGER 5 follows a team of five spies on a mission to kill Hitler. Danger 5 is the finest group of special operatives the allies have to offer; Jackson from the USA, Tucker from Australia, Ilsa from Russia, Claire from Britain and Pierre from Europe. Each episode Danger 5 unravels another of Hitler’s diabolic schemes and travels across a myriad of exotic locations spanning the globe. The action and offbeat humour never relents as Danger 5 mounts a series of thrilling missions which include discovering Josef Mengele’s perverted Antarctic death circus, busting down Erwin Rommel’s golden murder casino and posing as exotic dancers in an attempt to take out Hitler at his own birthday party.

Never seen the second Kill Bill.
Guess I can go ahead and wait for this one. I hope they will make the climax from the first one in color and not the black & white censorship we had to deal with here in the US because "its too violent in color" - MPAA

Re: Films Thread
The 2nd movie is awesome but of a different kind than the 1st one which was full on action, it has a rather slower pace and focuses on the story of the blonde (won't spoil her name ), how she became the woman she is and her relationship with the rest of the gang.
A lot of classic moments in there too!

This is a fact.
I finally got around to see this today. I didn't know anything about GotG before seeing this (had no idea that Vin Diesel, Batista, and Merle from TWD were all in it either), but I left wanting more. It was funny, exciting, and had some great character development. I absolutely loved these characters by the end of this movie and it has some scenes that do hit you in the feels. This might've been my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe movie by far. Excellent movie all around!
Oh, did I mention that the soundtrack was AWESOME!? After I came home, I went straight to youtube and listened to some old forgotten classics that I heard in this movie. Then again, I am a sucker for 70s and 80s music!

Re: Films Thread
^These two gentlemen know what are they talking about! Guardians is pretty awesome.
So... after a while, I've decided to watch the remake of RoboCop.
To be perfectly blunt, I refused to watch it cuz you know I'm a huge fan of the original RoboCop, and I was afraid I'd be terribly disappointed if they messed it up (as most of the remakes do recently). Fortunately, I wasn't.
Somehow I liked that they didn't try to use the same plot elements from the classic one, but instead focused in another important aspect of the RoboCop's character: his humanity. While I always thought the leitmotif of the first series was mainly the corporate authoritarianism, dystopia, urban decay, gentrification and deep crime, it also covered part of Murphy's internal drama of becoming a machine, but it didn't go as deep as in this new film. Even though the setting is in a near future (2028), the environment doesn't seem visually corrupted as the dystopian Detroit of the 1987 film, in fact, looks as close as our current present, presenting the crime and the latent corruption hidden under a normal environment.
I liked the creation of the new characters Dr. Norton (Gary Oldman) and the main villains Sellars (Michael Keaton) and Mattox (Jackie Earle Haley), needless to say, they are supported by excellent actors and their presence gives a stronger as allies or enemies for RoboCop, where he only relied in his partner Anne Lewis. Instead of focusing in bad guys like criminals like Clarence or Dick Jones, the battle was of finding the balance whether Alex is a free human or an OCP owned robot. This balance wasn't only tipped by Murphy himself, but the characters around him were also crucial into it. The same, his family played an even more important role that kept him still grasping to keep himself human and override his protocols.
I so loved the great quotes and nods to the classic film, like "thank you for your cooperation", "I'd buy that for a dollar!", "dead or alive you're coming with me", etc (I couldn't help laughing when I read all these quotes or direct references). I'm glad Padilha paid his respects to Verhoeven film rather than alienate it.
Anyways, I found it rather enjoyable and was pleased that it didn't fuck up the original one. In my eyes, it was more like a respectful remake of the original focusing in a completely different leitmotif.
Oh and Samuel L. Jackson rocked as expected. It couldn't be a complete film featuring him if he didn't curse his breath out, lol!
