[Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
*Original post by Xenovant.
Lately, in a few moments of boredom in which I didn't know what to do, I have investigated a little how works Bennu, which file formats it supports, etc. and casually, I found this version.
Since FPGEdit hasn't been posted in this forum (except in a bomberlink's tutorial but the link is dead) and seeing that everyone here use a very old version (2005 / b0.5), I decided to upload it and post it here.

ADDED 2005 VERSION (it's faster):

Re: [Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
For those that want to have always the latest version: the author is updating it but, for now, is pretty unstable, we'll have to wait.
http://forum.bennugd.org/index.php?topic=3212.0 (sorry, in spanish only )
Changes?
-The app doesn't require anymore any external .dll or zlib.exe (this one is for compressing the fpg)
-Bugfixes (mostly bugs with pngs and when handling a lot of files) and some visual changes
-Better compatibility with wine (linux)
-A lot of changes/additions for things that we won't have to care about (they are for making bennu apps/games: a font viewer/generator, now it keeps the points of control of pics when you overwrite them,...)
When I see a stable build, I'll post it here.

Hopefully it will fix the bug where I want to go back and edit earlier images but can't because the image number keeps resetting to the highest one. REALLY annoying when creating cutscenes, you sometimes have to restart a cutscene over again if you make a mistake.

For now the latest version is 3.1.14, you can test it if you want . The author says nothing about that, so I don't know if he fixed it.

WARNING: This version seems to have problems compressing the fpgs.

Re: [Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
A version that could handle more than 999 images would be great.
I remember setting up a massive cutscene only to accidentally add a 1000th image and the whole program crashed and burned killing the half-hour I'd just spent

Re: [Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
I tried to test if this has been fixed and it seems so, but you'll have to test it by yourself too because I have tested it again in fpgedit 2005 and it seems that that bug doesn't exist anymore. When I saw it, was some time ago when I was using windows xp x86 but now I'm using windows xp x64. Maybe it has something to do with the operating system?
I tried it in the new version and it didn't crash (but I had 4 crashes when I tried to navigate to the folder with the pics )
The 999 limit... I think that that is the limit of pics in a fpg for bennu, it's a limitation of the engine/language, not a limitation of fpgedit.

I had a small feeling that was the case. Oh well.

It seems that the creator has released the last build of the new version (v3.1.18). I have tested it and it's stable.
I have uploaded it to mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?ek83uc429akgidu
There is a folder named "BennuPRGs", you could delete it if you want, that one is useless for us.

Re: [Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
I didn't find it very useful.
The English translation is not very good; It didn't even save my language setting; It refused to open my FPG files from my mod, and then gave me bullshit about "Corrupting the file"; It refused to accept the code 010, and reverted it back to 001 which because 001 existed then decided to duplicate the 001 image across all images...It just ballsed everything up. I never even got to the stage of the saving times, I couldn't be too bothered with all the shit it was giving.
2005 is still the best.

The truth is that I haven't checked the english translation, but now that I see it...
About the corruption/zlib thing... somebody already reported that... 7? builds ago, I thought that it was fixed xDD
Well... we'll have to continue using the 2005 version

Hello! Does anyone have the fpgedit-0.5.440-src.zip (or 0.5.x above)? I found the source for fpgedit-0.5.433, but not 440

I tried downloading, but both of the links are dead. Can you reupload them?
Update:I was able to use the other links, but the one I used is in Spanish. Any English links.

The 2005 version sucks, but, if you must use it you might be able to use the language packs from the 2009 version to change it into English.

2005 is easily the best version of the three fpgedits out there. You don't have to wait 15 hours for something to export and it does it in a blink of an eye. What are you talking about?

I use 2009 v0.12 on a win7 64bit computer and have no issues what so ever, it is fast and i can export import 100s of frames for cut scenes without any trouble.
2005 works fine, but, is lacking in some areas that are needed for more advanced users and for me 2005 sometimes crashes and says not responding for a few seconds... Although it does not always happen, it was enough for me to switch and never look back...
Anyway if they want to use 2005, like i said the 2009 version has Russian/English/Spanish and another language i think.. So if they move those language files across they might work, though, i have never tested that.

What's the problem of fpg-edit 4.0?

I don`t know why use older versions like 2009 and 2005.

Re: [Utility] FPG Edit 2005 & 2009
Enter the miraculous time machine that is the "Wayback Machine". Unfortunately, my new account prohibits me from posting the link, so a screen cap will have to suffice:
Look for the file "SORR_Utils.zip" - not only it contains FPG Edit 2009, but also Cutscene Maker and Palette Manager. There's also tons of other rare stuff archived.
I'd also recommend giving "Smart FPG Editor" a closer look, as it provides some great additional features for a better workflow when putting together an FPG.
