Looks like Platinum Games have done it again, Metal Gear Rising is a good 'un.

Exactly as entertaining as you’d expect from a collaboration between two of Japan’s most talented developers, and one of the best action games of the generation.

Judging from the demo, it did seem pretty fun, even considering the worries I had for it.

I just picked it up. I'm gonna try to play it soon.

Sony is giving out free $10 to use on PSN to some users who are considered loyal today? Anyone here get free money?

I guess I wasn't loyal enough along with a few other people as I didn't get a message (yet). Hopefully it's just being sent out in waves and that I haven't received it yet along with everyone else. If not, this wasn't a very good way for Sony to start a day with the announcement of a possible PS4 later on. Some people are already really pissed off. Laughing

I haven't received any monies from Sony, but then i was never very loyal.

I'm guessing what they mean by 'loyal' is a person who's spent a shitwad of cash, which kinda makes $10 look quite insignificant when you look at it anyway.

So they announced the PS4 today. I didn't watch the stream, but from what I've heard, I'm not really looking forward to it.

But PS4 is really underwhelming. PS3 is really close to perfect imo. If they followed through with PS2 compatibility it would easily be one of my all time favorite consoles.

Let me tell you some cool stuff about PS3 that PS4 is trying to undo.

1. PS3 let's you use just about any USB controller in existence. That's awesome for the FGC since everyone has their preferences, and for those of us that like to use different pads for different games. The simple fact that the DS4 has a touchpad really kills that whole movement, especially if its required for most games.

2. Discs. I'm kind of a collector and I like getting physical copies of stuff. I grew up reading gaming magazines and admiring other peoples "room of doom". I have enough games to build my own someday and I plan to keep growing my collection. Plus digital copies can be lost with a simple glitch, you're spending something you can't protect yourself and depending on them to acknowledge the fact that you paid for it. EFF that.

3. Backwards compatibility. Not exactly a PS3 thing, but PS2 set the freaking standard for this. I had a huge ps1 collection and knowing that I'd have an even bigger playable game collection was a huge part of me buying a PS2. PS2 is easily the most well thought out console of all time. The fact that sony is losing all their integrity from that point is really irking me.

Now, I can't say I'm not at all interested, but unless they make some huge changes I can't see myself supporting this type of movement. And I really hope many others feel the same way I do.

Don't even get me started on the whole used game fiasco. If they ever do that consider me done with buying any video games whatsoever.

I wasn't licking my lips after the announcement. There was a lot of fluff, like with the whole "Finish your friend's game for them, remotely!" ...Like whu? Or the social networking stuff...nah, not interested in that. I also thought the new Dualshock was more ugly than the current 3, but that's just me.

Some of the game demos did look good though I'll admit.

Suppose we're waiting for E3 now.

The whole "play your friends game" thing is actually kinda cool for fighting game players. It could make training sessions much more interesting for people who don't live around a lot of people who are actually good. Of course this could have been just as easily done with an online training mode if 2 players pick the same chars, but now it's not completely necessary.

I too am not a fan of the new dualshock. I think the one we have now is perfect (except the concave triggers Razz

) and the huge space in the middle just looks weird. If things do end up looking good for this console, I hope they still allow the use of old/3rd party controllers and that touchpad isn't necessary.

Watch Dogs is still the most impressive looking game on the horizon, great graphics and finally some original ideas.

It's Watchdogs I'm really excited about and it's looking better & better. At least the PS4 has a similar architecture to a PC this time, lesson learned from the PS3 no doubt. It's all nice banging on about how powerful your system is but you need something developers can actually develop and port to without going through hell first.

I didn't know who Solomon Grundy even was until Arkham City, and even after that I didn't care for him. They announce him for this game and I'm thinking whatever. But after watching this vid and seeing his grab combos I'm a fan. Twisted Evil

I wonder how easy it is to accidentally buy something.

Anyway idk if you guys remember, but the Netherrealm crew said story mode this time would be more than just fight>cutscene>fight>cutscene. They've added minigames to the mix and here's a little preview of the minigames that will be in the Red Son DLC pack.

Interesting read i must say.

It looks as though it's ticking all the correct boxes anyway: Open world, can go anywhere including the water; reputation (although RDR has already done that); gun play and stealth play. All in all it's looking quite tasty i agree.

It won't force me to buy a used games locked new PS4 though if they come with that Razz

I'll happily take the graphics hit with the PS3 version.

Ubisoft says PC is lead platform for Watch Dogs

Kinda surprising since they always choose consoles. I might have to pick this up for PC then. Especially since I probably won't be buying a PS4 in awhile. Razz

I'm pretty much definitely getting the PS3 version. Since you guys are going PC though I hope they consider cross-platform play like what was done with Portal 2 and what's being done with Skullgirls. However I sincerely doubt a game of this caliber would do that Crying or Very sad

I'm getting both PS3 and PC versions. PC most likely will create a mod community just like GTA so things might become more interesting.

Guess late 2013 will have some nice games to play.
