Using food drops instead of actual food

Why do people do this so much? It's there purely for theming (fatties dropping fatty foods), there was no thought about balance put into it (or there wouldn't be a 32% spread of what you might get), as a result it's a massive luckfest which appears to be weighted (at least slightly) in favour of the worthless chocolate bar.

Worst are the mods that use it purely instead of actual food...sorry, but that's way too much RNG to determine whether you live or die. (some of us want a challenge that doesn't depend solely on anything but a chocolate bar dropping)
