Post  crystalix Thu Nov 06, 2014 11:47 am

Hello,

I wanted to announce it until I finish at least 33% of all stages, but I am so happy because of new patch for sorr and I decided to reveal what I've done so far.

Somewhere in the middle of August I was thinking about my mod with sonic and very quickly came to the conclusion "I need remake it, some elements are bad or very bad and it doesn't look like I would like". I had a plan, until today I should have redone 40-50% of all stages, but unfortunately I got sick and slow progress slowed even more and then stop for about a 2-3 weeks, now I feel better and I think for 2 or 3 days I resume to work.

So far I have redone around 6-7% of all stages, below are 3 pics of three stages which are reconstructed.

Green hill zone act 3

Marble zone act 1

Spring Yard zone act 1

I know some elements still not look so good, but it's because my skills aren't good. Rolling Eyes

Next new screenshots will be when I finish all stages from Sonic 1 route and that would be for I think in January, progress is so slow because I do not want to rush myself, as I did during making first version and effect is bad.

Oh, and about new patch to sorr I'm really happy, especially of two things:
- Sormaker : Added object sprite replacement file - at last there will be TV's from sonic as containers Very Happy
- Sormaker : Music for Player Select, Stage Clear, Gameover can be added in Sormaker mods Smile

Once again sorry for my horrible english Embarassed

Glad to hear you are reworking your mod for v5.1. Hopefully others will do this with their mods to take advantage of the new features.

One thing I had noticed is the speed of your layers. Your background layers move fast and your foreground layers move slowly. It should be the opposite way around. You can keep an eye on this during development.

Keep up the good work!

I agree with Charco. I enjoyed the mod the first time around. I can't wait to be able to download your updated version of this mod. I really do like these screenshots because it's "progress." Keep it up my friend.

Also remember now it is possible to do proper platforming. Sonic is a game with lots of platforms, use them wisely! Smile

Yeah there were definitely issues with the collision maps in the first version. You can do some amazing things now with the improvements in v5.1.

I'd also offer to help with rewriting the text for the mod, but it was almost too funny to edit.

INDEED!

But yeah, everyone that has a mod out should seriously consider revising their mods for all the new features that 5.1 has! Smile

Hi, first I want to say sorry to all of you, it's been a long time since I wrote anything here (almost a year Embarassed ), at that time almost I didn't do anything because of too many reasons. A month ago I resumed work on my mod and because I don't want to rush myself as I did before, but still I wanna play this as soon as possible, so I decided to split it into three parts, each part will contain 10-13 stages, to finish the first part I have to do 5 more stages and new enemy placements. I don't say when it will be ready, because I don't know Sad

Also, have you guys any tips about enemy placements or pattern for example: at once 5 enemies on normal + 3 on v.hard + 4 on mania etc. it would be good?

This is not as mathematical as that but the way I would do is, basic enemy placement for easy/normal/hard and upgraded enemy placement for very hard/mania.

Then I will scale life of bosses and subbosses for each difficulty, and at last, add extra mooks in the challenge mode of each setup (hard and mania respectively).

PS: Love your sonic mod Crystalix. Don't rush yourself. Smile

Glad to hear you are working on it! The platforming in v5.1 would be a great feature in some of the stages in this mod.
