I had posted this on the old site (before realizing everything had moved), but I feel the need to post again and also comment. So...



Now, although I haven't played Street Fighter much in the past few years, I've always been a big fan ever since I first played SF2 for the SNES as a kid. With this new update coming out in 2014, I'm really happy to know that the SF4 series will get brand new characters who could really use the exposure. What I'd like to know, though, is who Capcom's fifth new character for this game will be...maybe Mike Haggar, we can hope

One thing I'm definitely looking forward to is to see the character-specific win quotes where Rolento is concerned, as well as to see whether he'll get a Rival Battle with Guile or if it'll be with the Final Fight-specific characters. I always enjoyed using him during the SF Alpha 3 days!

I'm actually really ok with that. There's a lot of FGs that could use some time in the limelight between now and then.

Besides I really don't wanna buy a next gen console any time soon.

I pretty much have to, after playing KI at Evo.... yeah not passing that one up haha. I dunno I wouldn't care as much if they were going to attempt another Darkstalkers or Rival Schools or SOMETHING in the mean time.

Sweet, a Street Fighter thread! I guess I'll start by saying that I'm a huge fan of the SF II series. Hit me up on ggpo or XBL if you are looking to play some HDR or Super Turbo.

I'm looking forward to getting back into SF4 when the new update drops. I hope this time Capcom can make this the last and final version because I am sick of them taking things away from characters only to put them back in, in the next update. Willing to bet that a Super Ultra Street Fighter IV will be released after this one.

I would love for an update to SFIII:3S. That is pretty much the only SF game I play nowadays. But the game is pretty much perfect as it is so it really doesn't need an update. So....fuck, wish they would just do SFV instead of revamping the same damn game for the 50th time.

1. Ryu and Ken at least. Also depends on the time frame they set it in. Capcom loves setting just about every game in the 90s.

Well, yes, of course, Ryu and Ken would HAVE to be in it. Wouldn't be a Street Fighter game without them, right? Oh, and Chun Li too.

In terms of other returning characters, I'd say that Cammy would have a pretty good shot at coming back, as well as Juri Han. Probably Rolento and the other Final Fight characters too. And I really think Charlie would come back too; there's no way a guy like him can be kept down for long as long as they don't explicitly show the body to prove that he's definitely dead. I'd also wager on Urien and Gill coming in as bosses. Maybe C. Viper would come in too.

As far as new characters...well, that's a tough one. It would have to be a country that hasn't been represented yet, for sure, but at the same time it would have to be someone who's not stereotypical for that country.

EDIT: Just found out that Decapre is the confirmed fifth character for Ultra Street Fighter 4. I MAD! I VERY MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those costumes packs, were they available before or are they new for Ultra SFIV. Coz I ain't getting USFIV if there's still tons of DLC to come for it.

The summer vacation pack, along with the pre-order DLC costumes were made AFTER the release of USFIV. So yes, essentially USF4 is still an incomplete package lmao.

Nice for the fans I guess (coz I love most of the costumes I saw) but I'll get SFIV when they'll release a COMPLETE edition of the game, with every DLC in it.

I find that Taito arcade network interesting, basically a publisher copying an open source platform like GGPO and MAME after it was proven to be popular. People have already built their own network enabled arcade cabinets with a frontend like Hyperspin.

It all depends, some ports are justified and/or of excellent quality while others are poor attempts to milk franchises.
What I do appreciate in these ports however is that they're taking effort to implement network of quality (that's what I've heard from their recent previous ports) and improving gameplay by displaying commands on the corner, that's a nice little addition. It allows people to discover past entries in the SF series or fans to enjoy comfortably some of their favorite games with some new little additions.

On the other hand, ports like Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD, even if it was the best port RE4 ever had, are not so justified when it's already been released n-th times.
