New details from the interpretation of the poll results by SEGA:
Streets of Rage (known as Bare Knuckle in Japan): Okunari pointed out that he has made a Streets of Rage remake in the past. There was also some discussion about whether a revival of this game would be better made in 2D or 3D. One opinion was that it would be best to keep the same 2D appearance as the earlier titles, but model and implement the fighting moves in three dimensions.

Bare Knuckle official remake (crosses fingers) should be in 2D.
SORRV5.1's success was so flawless; i bet it wouldn't be so "convincing" and "satisfying" to the people who played it, had it been in 3d... Retro is big <3 , even for newcomers!!!

I wonder if that SOR remake was the Sega Ages one that was supposed to come out during the PS2 era that was quietly canned.
I wouldn't mind a 2D entry, but I would love to see a shot at a 3D entry if it can be done well.

Hum...interesting theory.
Maybe a 3D entry can be good if t can be done very well.

I say stick to 2d, whatever we get will likely be the only thing we get unless by some miracle SoR suddenly becomes as popular as Yakuza or other sega titles out here. 3d would've been cool during that experimental era, which is why I think maybe that sega ages title should've been a thing but I rather they stick to what works.

Also, don't forget that a well made 2D is always better than 3D. Just look over Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! Inside top 10 games ever made, ever since 1997! In an era when 3D was already established and mainstream!
And just look at Iga's upcoming "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night"! It is coming out next year, but (everyone demanded it to be) 2D, in a climate of frenzy, wide acceptance, critical acclaim and extremely generous kickstart-funding results!
Not only people love and (would) prefer 2D over 3D anytime, but if well made, it can be extremely profitable, too!
